In 2025 I started “Timeless/Endless” — an experimental project with the goal of releasing 12 timepiece designs in limited edition batches of twelve.
The starting clock archetype for the series was a design that used custom bent aluminum brackets to “float” off the wall. I was able to create 6 different designs that used laser cut materials to explore various visual and interactive themes from perforations to textures to dry erase marker board and mirrors.
After 12 months, I was able to make 8 separate small-batch production runs (doing second runs of Nº1 and Nº2 for an exhibition in which they were featured). Although this fell short of the initial (somewhat aggressive) goal of 12 designs in 12 months, it felt like phase 1 of the project was complete, and it was time to pause and reflect on where I wanted to move next.
After a few months of sketching and experimenting in the studio, I believe I have found where the second phase of the project will be heading: free standing timepieces that use a similar palette of laser cut and bent materials, but at a slightly smaller scale ideal for a bookshelf.
The model you see here is just a mock up: the clock hands will likely be smaller proportion, the aluminum flanges will be powder coated and the clock face material will be the main focus of exploration. I’m thrilled to have finally found a new standard architecture through which I can experiment for the final half of the project!
Timepiece Nº7 will be launching this Spring—all in good time.
